24.6.2009 Financing your studies / Cooperation is need of the hour - especially in times of crisis

It’s a dilemma - at least when good education and qualification is considered a precondition for more “resilience” in times of an economic crisis.

Nonetheless, MBA candidates suffer from a lower willingness to fund their studies, talking about banks allowing credits. Especially international students are imposed more obstacles. Furthermore, some companies do not give their “Ok” for their financial support some time in advance which means that it is extremely important to arrange all around this topic timely.

Many schools offer their help on that and should do so. But there are also some business schools negotiating specific cooperations with local banks or other prospective sponsors and try to offer more scholarships to support their candidates. The British Business School Ashridge for instance (information on mba platform) which offers partly financed scholarships for the part time MBA for a short time.

For renowned schools like The Wharton School in Pennsylvania (see mba platform) or the Harvard Business School (mba platform ) it is not that hard to find a financier. But perhaps the above mentioned form of cooperation with local economic actors may create a form of trust which in these days is lacking. Schools can also accommodate their prospective students with more flexible modes of paying, as paying by instalments.
